Slasher Risk outshined all with their potent improvisations. Their live set will post this coming Tuesday, both to Beware of the Blog and the Free Music Archive. For now, one can listen to the stream of last night's full horrorcast™ by clicking on that wise-looking rooster above (i.e., he knows he's fucked.)
Also starring Eyehategod and Brocken Moon.

Short Film of the Day - Terror (1978); First 10 Mins., including Title Sequence
Pure bliss—at least the title sequence, which I was unable to crop free from the opening flashback segment (albeit value-added, featuring an intense witch-burning and several murders.)
These opening ten minutes of Terror, directed by the notable Norman J. Warren (see Satan's Slave) are a bit of a screen-capturer's delight anyway, so instead of just stills—here they are in motion.
Music by Ivor Slaney. Slaney's soundtrack to this and another Warren film, Prey, are new on CD.

Wm. Berger, do you play any music?
"Pummel you with intense sound," I said, though it never seems to be enough.
To roll the dice with your consciousness, and dive in to the torrid, audio-as-mind-sweep fest that was last night's kustom horrorcast™, threateningly titled NOISE BLISS-OUT #1, click on the chick above with the milk bottle.
Noise builds strong bones; or at least porous ones, and besides, there's no room for bad thoughts in there.
We don't talk much, but we scream a lot.
Starring everyone.
Next week on the Castle, Slasher Risk LIVE.

grind grind. DOOM!
Remember that innocent game we played as children? It was never a problem, until someone picked up a heavy log and just wouldn't stop hitting. "Grind...grind...grind...grind...grind...grind...DOOM!" Nowadays the kids have their Nintendos and their Grand Theft Auto, and nobody hits anyone on the head anymore. No panicked chase around the circle.
In the world of Vikings, I most surely would have been the stenographer, which sounds easier than it was. Granted, you're not raping and pillaging etc., but you do have the pressure of Erik the Red over your shoulder, hilt at his side, saying, "I don't think you've got enough of ME in there, brother."
Get the pizza, Agnes. Get the pizza! Click on her fast enough, and you might just get to the playlist and streaming-archive page for last night's off-schedule horrorcast™. Thanks to Professor Dum Dum for asking me to fill in, and to Der Blumin for keeping company. My metal hat all battle-worn, I will probably relax with a bathtub full of noise this coming Wednesday....

what a pleasant onslaught
What to say about last night's horrorcast™?
Liturgy's aether-shredding might has rendered me still somewhat speechless. Their magnificent set will post in its entirety to Beware of The Blog this coming Tuesday a.m.
It was also gratifying to have Jed back inside these dank walls of crumbling stone. He maketh me laugh, and laughter is the cure. I dream that someday Jed and I will be the middle-aged, grouchy, comedy alliance of the occult (if we're not already.)
Click on Doña María above to reach the playlist/streaming-archive page. Also starring Enslaved by Owls and Pentemple.

New England Swings, Part II
The surf at Old Orchard Beach, ME. Oh, the gloom.
The pier, where all the good t-shirt images are on the back. They almost had my $18 with the "Sea Hag" design, but the teeny, tiny sig on the front screamed "tourist asshole."
Unacceptable pizza freshness standard, and they're bragging about it! Sorry, I'm from NJ.
I had no idea the family was back in politics after 215 years.

New England Swings Like a Pendulum (in a Pit) Do
The arcade at Old Orchard Beach, ME. The finest noise-collage performance I've ever attended. Take that, Rupenus Brothers!
Okay, if you insist. Portsmouth, NH. Steps away from Odyssey & Oracle records, wherein occurred a chance meeting with my new favorite one-man musical project, Enslaved by Owls. Tune in tomorrow to the Castle to hear a track from his great debut disc.
Dragon Chop Block, green train station, Saco, ME
Old Orchard Beach tells it like it is, with no fancy language.
Where I went for inspiration. So Pure...So Cold
Not where I stayed, but a great fucking sign.
"Great Job!"
CN in her backyard.

Mmmmmmmmm. Hunch.
The Chinese-Indian goddess embraced me with her multitude of arms—slowly, gently, increasing the pressure until I burst. Bloody chunks all over the console. My animal parts slithered around, gradually reforming. DOOM. Crunchy, delicious doom.
Agnes and Peter above are pretty far gone—not long for this world actually—but perhaps you can bug them to take you to the playlist/archive page. There is often grace right before the end.
With the stars Overmars, Thorr's Hammer, Wolfmangler, Aluk Todolo, and of course—Kommissar Hjuler und Mama Baer.
Next week—Liturgy live, and the return of the droll co-host.

Your castle is too quiet.
Last night, forces conspired to storm the Castle—what were they thinking? By the end, our stronghold prevailed, and the hillside was littered with body pieces and viscera. Castle staff celebrated our victory by drinking ceremonial wine, and rolling about naked in a bed made from the feathers of a flock of damned birds.
Deadgirl will take you with a single click to the playlist/archive page, but be careful, you may arrive minus one or two important hunks of flesh—she bites.
With the stars Spill, The Decapitated Hed, Bob Bellerue & Jarrett Silberman, and Raven.
